The Last Lecture & Dreams
This week in class one of the videos we watched was Randy Pausch's Last Lecture.
Randy Pausch
was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he worked hard and
lived his life. He said, "Life is not how to achieve your dreams, it's
about how to lead your life & karma will take care of itself. Your dreams
will come to you."
Another
quote that I really liked from Randy Pausch was the quote, “Brick walls are there
for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things.”
He
talked about how his childhood dream was to work for Disney, and when he got
out of college he applied right away to Disney, and they politely told him no. Some
people would be discouraged by that, but not Randy. That brick wall did not
stop him. Later in life he helped design a roller coaster for Disney. His
childhood dream did come true.
I
feel that dreaming is important because it affects the goals that you make, it
effects the choices you make and the direction your life goes. Dreams give you
something to look forward to and something to strive for. Dreams can be very
motivating.
When
I was a kid I loved the movie, Cars. I loved how Lightning McQueen was the best
in the game and could do whatever he wanted. My dream was to be a racecar
driver, too. I haven't achieved that dream yet, but my first car was a 350z and
it felt and sounded like I was driving a racecar.
Another thing that I learned this week was about how life is an experiment, and it is ok to fail. I loved the quote from Thomas Edison. He said, “I haven’t failed. I’ve just found ten thousand ways that did not work.
I know I can achieve my dreams if I just keep working hard and going forward no matter what.
Here's a picture of my 350z.
